Series Returns To Scene Of Last Year’s Wild Night

Last year’s spring Richmond race was quite eventful, with several drivers getting together — most notably the incident between Dale Earnhardt Jr and Kyle Busch, which costed both a chance to win.

Edwards Gets Spun, Goes Airborne On Last Lap Of Aaron’s 499

Coming to the finish line in the Aaron’s 499 at Talladega Superspeedway, Carl Edwards tried to block Brad Keselowski, and the two made contact.

Edwards spun, then his rear wheels lifted off the ground. Ryan Newman plowed into Edwards, sending him airborne into the catchfence.

Kenseth, Gordon Get Together in Aaron’s 499

Kenseth Flips During Aaron’s 312

In the closing laps of the Aarons 312 at Talladega Superspeedway, Kyle Busch jumped out of line to start a run on the outside.

Matt Kenseth attempted to go with him, but was unable to. He tried to tuck back in line in front of his teammate David Ragan. Ragan bumped Kenseth, sending him spinning.

Kenseth’s car slid sideways before flipping down the front stretch.

Logano Bumps Waltrip Sending Him Spinning

During the Aarons 312 at Talladega Superspeedway, Michael Waltrip, who was a lap down, got a bump from Joey Logano, which sent Waltrip across the nose of Clint Bowyer.

Waltrip hit the wall and Bowyer spun. The two made contact a few more times before their cars came to a rest.

Mears Speaks About Earnhardt Jr, Incident

Following the incident during the Subway Fresh Fit 500 at Phoenix International Raceway between Dale Earnhardt Jr and Casey Mears, Mears said:

I didn’t mean to get together with Dale Jr. I think he was trying to save fuel and make it to the end without stopping and I wheel-hopped the car getting into the corner and ended up making contact with him. I guess he was a little bent out of shape about it because he spun me out after the checkered flag.

Jr did not speak about the wreck.

Neither driver was called to the NASCAR hauler, and no penalties are expected.

Earnhardt Jr, Mears Incident From Subway Fresh Fit 500

At the Subway Fresh Fit 500 at Phoenix International Raceway, after a pit gamble didn’t pay off, Dale Earnhardt Jr was dropping back in the field. Casey Mears got into him, and Jr spun and hit the wall. Jr sustained damage, but was able to continue. He finished 31st.

On the cool down lap, Jr spun Mears, showing him his displeasure. As Jr headed to the garage, Mears caught up with him and bumped him several times.

Lamar Bumps Green In Pepsi 300

Burney Lamar got into the back of David Green around lap 144 of the Pepsi 300 at Nashville Speedway. Green spun and hit the wall hard, effectively ending his day.

After the incident, Green said:

Burney Lamar should understand when Kevin Harvick didn’t want to hire him to drive, he probably doesn’t need to be on the race track. It was a good deal for us. I don’t know, that’s just sickening. It’s better I not say anything else other than Burney Lamar.

Lamar said:

I didn’t get in the back of him. I don’t know why he’s all mad. David’s a friend of mine. He went in the corner and pretty much checked up real good, and they started getting under me. I stayed off of him. I was up on him close, and I’m sure I took the air off the back of him, but I didn’t get in the back of the guy. When you’re racing up front, and you’ve got people going by you, I’m not going to just lay back and let him hold me up. I was up on him as close as I could so I could get a run coming off the corner. Before we even got off the corner, he had spun.

After watching the video, its hard to tell if the two made contact, but it looks like they did.

Nemecheck Flips During Pepsi 300

With about nine laps to go in the Nationwide Series’ Pepsi 300 from Nashville Speedway, Joe Nemechek was involved in a big wreck in which he flipped.

McDowell Returns To Site Of Vicious Crash

Nationwide Series driver Michael McDowell returns to the site of his vicious crash last year during Sprint Cup qualifying.

McDowell said:

[Monday] I was at a Toyota dealership, and a guy was like, ‘Hey, aren’t you that guy who crashed at Texas?’ Yes. I am the guy who crashed at Texas. And that’s OK. That’s OK right now. For the time being, until I do something more impressive like win a race or a championship, that will be what follows me. But eventually, that will change.
